The holiday season is here, and our team couldn’t be more excited to celebrate right here in the western suburbs of Chicago. From sparkling tree lightings and Santa visits to trolley rides and fun runs, we’re proud to give back by sponsoring a lineup of local holiday events that bring joy and connection to the communities we serve.
The festivities begin on Thanksgiving morning with the 42nd Annual Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot in Elmhurst, a cherished local tradition that combines fitness, fun, and community spirit. Each year, thousands of runners and walkers come together to raise funds for area food pantries, supporting families in need during the holidays. We’re honored to be part of this inspiring event that starts the season on such a meaningful note.
Kick off the holiday season at the Elmhurst Tree Lighting at Wilder Park! This festive event is free to attend and offers an evening filled with fun for the whole family. Enjoy festive on-stage performances, holiday carnival games, and delicious treats from local favorites like The Chicago Donut Company, Travelin' Tom’s Mobile Coffee Truck, and Sugar Mama’s Mini Donuts. Step inside the Wilder Mansion to decorate your own ornament, listen to story time from guest readers, and snack on cookies while soaking in the holiday cheer. Outside, kids can meet real reindeer, take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Be sure to stop by our tent to meet Minnie and Mickey Mouse!
On Saturday, December 6, Wilder Mansion transforms into a hub of holiday fun for Santa at the Mansion, a festive experience the whole family will enjoy. Guests can savor cookies served by Santa’s cheerful elves, get creative with hands-on holiday crafts, and enjoy one-on-one time with Santa, complete with a complimentary photo to take home. Each child also receives early access to Santa’s Workshop, a kid-only shopping area filled with affordable gifts for Mom, Dad, and more. Later that same day, Santa’s Workshop opens its doors, giving children a chance to pick out and wrap special gifts for loved ones, a sweet way to experience the joy of giving. Registration is required for both children and adults, so be sure to sign up early to secure your spot.
Experience the magic of the season at Lilacia Park’s annual Holiday Lights display, presented by the Lombard Park District. From December 7 through January 5, the park sparkles nightly from 4:30 to 10:00 pm with dazzling light shows, decorated trees, and whimsical holiday scenes, including a gingerbread house and seasonal characters. Families can enjoy free visits with Santa on select evenings, along with festive activities like caroling, s’mores by the fire, and magical elf hunts. Complimentary hot cocoa and cookies add an extra touch of holiday cheer. Don’t miss the Lilacia Park Lighting Ceremony and Jingle Bell Jubilee on Saturday, December 6 at 5:30 pm to kick off the season. Stop by our tent during the Jingle Bell Jubilee to grab some free hot cocoa!
Celebrate the season with a trip to Whoville! Families can enjoy festive crafts, Grinch-inspired games, holiday treats, and photo ops with both Mr. Grinch and Santa Claus. Cindy Lou Who will also make a special appearance, spreading extra holiday cheer. This open-house-style event lets guests enjoy the fun at their own pace. Registration is required for this event.
All aboard for a day of festive fun! The Holly Jolly Trolley kicks off at the Lombard Community Building, where families can enjoy holiday crafts, coloring, storytelling with Mrs. Claus, and sweet treats of hot chocolate and cookies while waiting for their Winter Wonderland ride. Then, hop aboard the trolley, decorated with holiday lights and music, for a cheerful trip to the Log Cabin, where Santa will greet each child with a special gift. Seats are limited, so be sure to register early!
Kick off the New Year a little early at the Countdown to Noon celebration! Families can enjoy a lively morning filled with music, dancing, festive crafts, and a photo booth before the big balloon drop at noon. With party favors, a live DJ, and plenty of excitement, it’s the perfect way for the kiddos to celebrate the new year without staying up past bedtime. Space is limited, so be sure to register early!
