Don’t miss Lombard Park District’s Family Camp Out on Friday, September 5th! Pack your camping gear and get ready for an evening of outdoor fun at the rustic Log Cabin at Four Seasons. Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including crafts inside the cabin, outdoor games, a flashlight treasure hunt, and a light breakfast the following morning. On September 9th, our team is proud to sponsor the Elmhurst Neighbors and Newcomers Club’s Annual Fall Kick Off Event! Elmhurst Neighbors and Newcomers (ENNC) is a welcoming club for anyone looking to connect within the Elmhurst community. Whether you’re new to town or simply hoping to meet neighbors and reconnect with familiar faces, ENNC is a great way to get involved. This year’s Fall Kick Off will be held at Primos Locos and will feature a complimentary drink, light appetizers, and chances to win one of 20+ exciting prizes from local businesses. Head to Glen Ellyn on September 12th for the Park District’s annual Glow in the Park Lantern Walk, an evening of family fun supporting Lurie Children’s Hospital. Guests can enjoy live music, face painting, a balloon artist, and more. Food will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Lurie Children’s Hospital. The highlight of the night is the glowing paper lantern walk around the lake. This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages, with cash donations to Lurie Children’s Hospital encouraged. Bring the kids to Lombard Commons on Saturday, September 13th for the Lombard Park District's annual Touch-A-Truck event! This free, family-friendly outing is a great chance for children to climb aboard and explore police cars, fire trucks, dump trucks, and many other specialty vehicles. Families can also stop by the Kid’s Corner for fun games and activities. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians from the Lombard Police Department will be on-site to provide free car seat inspections during the event.
For you beer lovers out there, do not miss the 10th Annual Elmhurst Craft Beer Fest on September 13th. Enjoy craft brews, meads, ciders, seltzers, and live music on the grounds of the Elmhurst History Museum. This event is a fundraiser for the Elmhurst History Museum and Churchville Schoolhouse. Be sure to stop by our team’s tent for the opportunity to win a Blackstone Tailgater Grill! We will also be giving away grill basting brushes. Be sure to purchase tickets from the event website.
Join in the fall fun at the Spring Road Fall Fest on September 20th! The festival is free to attend and will feature a variety of activities to celebrate the season, including a petting zoo, carnival games, pumpkin painting, photo cutouts, and more. We hope to see you there!
On October 4th, be sure to attend Elmhurst Park District’s Family Fall Fest at The Depot at Wild Meadows Trace starting at 9am until 12pm. Get your costumes ready and enjoy a morning of festive fun! Families can take part in Safety Town trick-or-treating, kids’ carnival games, an inflatable corn maze and obstacle course, plus entertainment from a balloon artist and airbrush tattoo artist. Don’t forget to stop by The Depot for a family photo opportunity to capture the day. Food trucks will also be on-site, including Brown’s Chicken, Nick’s Wood Fired Pizza Truck, Tacos El Amigazo, D’s Treats & Ice Cream, and Smallcakes. Admission is free, so mark your calendars for this family-friendly fall celebration!
If you’re looking for even more fall fun on the same day, head over to Lombard for their Fall Fest from 11:30am until 2:30pm! At the Lombard Fall Fest, enjoy games, dancing, face painting, a candy hunt, Boo Bingo, and more! This free community event also supports a great cause—families are encouraged to bring a food or monetary donation for the Outreach House to help local families in need.
Do not miss the free Trucks & Treats at McCollum Park on October 18th! Dress up in your Halloween costume and enjoy a morning filled with candy, festive activities, and a variety of large trucks and specialty vehicles to explore. Families can visit trick-or-treat stations hosted by local businesses and get hands-on with fire trucks, construction vehicles, and more during the interactive Touch-A-Truck experience. Whether it’s the sweets, the sirens, or the spooky fun—there’s something every kid will love!
If you’re a fan of spooky fun, attend Glen Ellyn Park District’s Ackerman Haunted Trail on October 23rd and 24th. The walk takes about 10 minutes and is open from 4–9 pm. Families with younger children can enjoy a milder version from 4–6 pm, while older kids and adults can experience the full fright from 6–9 pm. Before or after your spooky adventure, grab snacks and treats from local vendors. All adults and children over the age of 3 walking the trail must register and pay the $5 registration fee.
Get ready for some Halloween fun at Boo Bash in Glen Ellyn on October 25th! Be sure to wear your favorite costume and enjoy a morning full of spooky excitement. Wander the trick-or-treat trail and treat yourself to Halloween snacks and refreshments. Be sure to visit the pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin to take home. Adults must accompany children; only children need to be registered.
Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the Holiday Market at the Wilder Mansion on November 7th and 8th. Discover one-of-a-kind artisan and seasonal gifts from over 55 vendors, including kid’s clothing, pottery, stationery, fiber arts, jewelry, mixed media, paintings, and gourmet food.
Treat your child to a memorable evening at the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Autumn Masquerade on November 7th at Abbington Distinctive Banquets! Dress to impress and dance the night away to tunes from the DJ, enjoy a complimentary photo booth, and indulge in a sweet ice cream sundae bar. Be sure to register prior to the event.
Kick off your Thanksgiving morning at the 42nd Annual Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot on November 27th! Join the 5K Fun Run and help make a difference by supporting efforts to fight hunger and promote sustainability in DuPage County.
