At the heart of the local artistic spirit stands the Elmhurst Art Museum, a place where art is for everyone.  The Museum is not just a space for viewing art; it's also a lively community hub that hosts workshops, lectures, studio art classes, and events to foster a deeper connection with creativity.  The Museum's architectural marvel, the McCormick House, designed by renowned architect Mies van der Rohe, sets the stage for an exploration of modern and contemporary art. Visitors are treated to a rotating collection of exhibitions that push the boundaries of artistic expression, from thought-provoking installations to engaging multimedia displays.  Recent exhibits include Picasso: Fifty Years Later, Inspired by Warhol, Marvelocity: The Art of ALex Ross, Superheroes in Wilder Park and many others.

Wilder Park, nestled in the heart of town, not only serves as a peaceful retreat, but also is the site for Art in Wilder Park. Produced by the Elmhurst Art Museum in partnership with the Elmhurst Park District and RGL Marketing for the Arts, this two-day event held every May for more than 25 years features over 100 Midwest artists with more than 10,000 annual attendees.  At this event, you can stroll around the park while viewing dozens of booths of one-of-a-kind art, food vendors and hands-on kid’s activities.

For a closer look at the arts of Elmhurst, explore the Elmhurst Artists' Guild, a collective of local artists whose works are regularly showcased at the Elmhurst Art Museum. This dynamic group encompasses a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and more. The guild not only provides a platform for local artists to highlight their works but also actively engages with the community through art workshops, demonstrations, and collaborative projects. The Elmhurst Artists' Guild serves as a testament to the city's commitment to nurturing and celebrating local talent.

What started as a big idea by a small group to create a state-of-the-art performing arts center serving the western suburbs is turning into something amazing real-time.  After raising initial funds to support a successful feasibility study in 2017 and finding the perfect location in 2019, this not-for-profit organization has been diligently raising funds since with broad-based community support.  No building yet…no problem!  While still in the development stages, ECPA is committed to an ongoing series of events.  The ECPA offers consistent programming and annual fundraisers such as Winter Carolers, Hearts for the Arts and the annual Spotlight Giving Gala.  These events share local delight in the performing arts and showcase national talent while gaining the necessary support needed to move forward.  The 2026 conceptual renderings look simply amazing!

For those who appreciate the raw energy of live theater, the GreenMan Theatre Troupe is a must-see. This local theater company, founded in 2004, brings the stage to life with a diverse repertoire of plays and performances. From thought-provoking dramas to light-hearted comedies and murder mysteries, the GreenMan Theatre Troupe's productions showcase local acting talent and provide a unique opportunity for the community to come together and experience live performance.  In early 2014, GreenMan Theatre Troupe was named Favorite Local Theatre by BroadwayWorld Chicago.

Dedicated to serving the children of Elmhurst, the Elmhurst Children’s Theatre provides a unique experience in all aspects of live theatre by promoting a supportive and positive learning environment.  ECT produces a fall / winter main stage show, a spring main stage show, and a summer show (or double feature) each year.  Professionals cast, direct, music direct, and choreograph productions. ​ECT's Unintentionally Hilarious Sketch Comedy Troupe is typically offered every fall or winter. Unintentionally Hilarious is directed by a professional comedian and theatre arts educator. Troupe members learn sketch comedy writing and performance skills, write skits, rehearse and perform for a live audience. Expect to have a fun time at one of these events showcasing Elmhurst’s young local talent.

Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, housed in the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church (holds 800+ seats), where classical music meets the heart of the community. Comprising talented musicians from the local area and beyond, the orchestra captivates audiences with performances that range from timeless classics to contemporary compositions. The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra creates an atmosphere where the beauty of music becomes a shared experience, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation for the arts.  The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra recently adopted a new strategic plan in January 2024 to ensure the long-term viability of this important part of the Elmhurst community.

For those who find joy in the power of collective voices, the Elmhurst Choral Union is a choral ensemble with riveting performances you don’t want to miss. Comprising talented singers from around the community, the Elmhurst Choral Union brings classical works to life with a chorus of voices. The combination of an auditioned volunteer chorus singing with a professional orchestra and soloists, the Elmhurst Choral Union fosters a sense of camaraderie among its members, creating a musical family that shares the love of song with audiences throughout the year.
